In early September 2000 version 5.8 was released. As usual many of the little bugs in the last version were fixed, and probably many more new ones were introduced. The casual will enjoy additions such as an internal beep.wav and mp3 support, while advanced users will look forward to many scripting improvements. Improved DLL support, new identifiers for encoding/decoding binary files, and especially hash table support highlight the additions. All 140 changes from the last version are documented in the version.txt. Version 5.81 was released on November 9, 2000. This version was more than just a bug-fix version with over 100 fixes and additions to 5.8. You can read about these changes in the versions.txt.
